Meet Dr. Leon Mead

Leon Mead has been southwest Florida’s premier orthopedic surgeon for the last 2 decades. He is the only orthopedic doctor in the area with advanced fellowship training in 2 areas:

  • Total Joint Arthroplasty
  • Arthroscopic Sports Medicine

This gives him a unique perspective and all the tools to successfully treat all sports and joint problems from the simple to the complex.

While Dr. Mead has been practicing since 1989, he remains at the cutting edge of current technology and has been a leader and innovator in the realm of minimally invasive orthopedics and sports medicine. Two decades of experience give him perspective and the rare talent of distinguishing true advance from fad and its associated inferior outcomes.

Dr. Mead is among the 3% of all orthopedic surgeons in the U.S. to receive board certification in sports medicine. He has been a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America for 20 years and has instructed other orthopedic surgeons here and abroad on cutting edge techniques. He uses these advanced arthroscopic techniques to return athletes of all ages to their chosen sport.
