Meet Dr. Leon Mead

Leon Mead has been southwest Florida’s premier orthopedic surgeon for the last 2 decades. He is the only orthopedic doctor in the area with advanced fellowship training in 2 areas:

  • Total Joint Arthroplasty
  • Arthroscopic Sports Medicine

This gives him a unique perspective and all the tools to successfully treat all sports and joint problems from the simple to the complex.

Instead of a “one approach fits all” attitude, each patient is afforded a customized approach to their unique set of problems. This ensures that all opportunities for wellness are explained in understandable terms and administered with the skill of a master craftsman. It is this absolute commitment to quality that sets Dr. Mead apart. For well over the last decade he has been honored to be one of “America’s Top Orthopedic Surgeons”. Currently ranked in the top 1% of all orthopedic surgeons nationally for patient satisfaction by Press-Ganey, and has been so for the last 2 years. His patients enjoy one of the lowest revision rates and his infection rate is less than 0.1%. It’s no wonder that operating room personnel consistently choose Dr. Mead for their orthopedic needs.

We welcome you to get to know our Doctor and his team in Naples and feel confident that you will receive the best care for your injured joints.

While Dr. Mead has been practicing since 1989, he remains at the cutting edge of current technology and has been a leader and innovator in the realm of minimally invasive orthopedics and sports medicine. Two decades of experience give him perspective and the rare talent of distinguishing true advance from fad and its associated inferior outcomes.

Dr. Mead is among the 3% of all orthopedic surgeons in the U.S. to receive board certification in sports medicine. He has been a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America for 20 years and has instructed other orthopedic surgeons here and abroad on cutting edge techniques. He uses these advanced arthroscopic techniques to return athletes of all ages to their chosen sport.
