Learning More About Orthopedic Spine Girdle

Orthopedic Spine Girdle is a type of orthosis used to relieve pain and correct inappropriate postures that could aggravate back problems. There are many uses given to this garment:

  • If we are sitting for many hours. For example, at work, to improve the position while we are in front of a computer.
  • Also when we are standing, serving a public, with the same position. This case applies to store clerks, security personnel, etc.
  • When we make efforts with forced positions. Whether it is in a workshop, or a construction site, carpentry, plumbing, among others…
  • For people who drive a vehicle and the posture can generate a lumbar load for maintaining the posture. Whether you are driving a truck, a car, a motorcycle or a forklift. All of these are postures maintained over time that could drain the back muscles.
  • For pregnant women where their back is taking a forced position.
  • In those cases where we must make a sudden abrupt movement, such as lifting people from a bed, picking up boxes from the floor, etc.

Types of orthopedic girdle

The Orthopedic Girdle improves posture and generates body heat. Both effects help alleviate back pain. For different uses, there are different types of belt:

  • Elastic girdle during pregnancy: It is a thoracolumbar girdle specially made with anatomical shape for very prominent abdomens, herniated discs, muscle weakness, and muscular atony.
  • Postpartum elastic girdle: Post-surgical and postpartum containment girdle. Helps in cases of containment of small and medium contractions.
  • Girdle for cases of breast augmentation: Used in postoperative periods for breast augmentation. Holds, gives firmness and avoids sudden, painful and unexpected movements.
  • Girdle after a Back Operation: Any type of intervention involves affected muscle tissues. For this reason it is best to provide firmness and prevention.
  • Lumbar girdle with lateral straps: The straps of this orthopedic girdle help postural maintenance and relaxation of the affected area.
  • Neoprene Girdle: This girdle provides heat to the lower back, which is where this girdle is used most frequently. Postural back pain can be alleviated with the use of the Neoprene Lumbar Belt.
  • Shoulder blade correction girdle: It is common to take bad postures, especially at an early age. Those incorrect postures can be improved with the use of the shoulder blade correction belt. It provides cross ribbons that force you to maintain the ideal posture, and over time correct bad habits.
  • Rib Girdle: This girdle is indicated for rib syndromes and post thoracic surgery. It provides firmness to the rib area.
  • Girdle for the sacrum area: The girdles for the lumbar region are recommended in cases of having a sacroiliac joint syndrome, symphysis relaxation or other problems of the motor apparatus in the pelvic area.
  • Biker Girdle: It is a lumbosacral corset that provides the biker with a strong fastening, containment and adjustment.

There are many options that the market offers, depending on the needs of the patient, however, it is recommended that you visit your orthopedist to find out which orthopedic girdle best suits you.
